Recent allegations against Harvey Weinstein, American film producer and founder of the Weinstein Company, have indicated that he may be guilty of multiple counts of sexual harassment and assault going back as early as the 1980s. Victims of Weinstein’s escapades include Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, and Rosanna Arquette.

Carter Hall Renovation and Rededication

We don’t remember the rickety spiral staircase up the tower or the Washington Monument-like dome. California Becomes First Sanctuary State

On October 5, California Governor Jerry Brown passed legislation limiting who state and local law enforcement agencies can hold, question, and transfer based on immigration status at the request of federal immigration authorities. Communication between California police and Federal officials about immigration status will be prohibited, and undocumented immigrants will be safer from deportation.

The Rescinding of DACA

On Tuesday, Sept. 5, President Donald Trump formally ended Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), a policy protecting deported immigrant children who live in the United States illegally. This decision has been the subject of substantial controversy in past weeks. Furthermore, many of the implications of the termination of DACA on Dreamers (a term given to these immigrant children) remain unclear.

Chattanooga Community Rallies a Year After Fatal Bus Crash

Nearly a year ago, a Woodmore Elementary school bus overturned and crashed on Talley Road in East Chattanooga, killing five children and sending twenty-three to the hospital. The November 2016 crash devastated the community. Ten months later, the community is still rallying together to overcome the recent tragedy.
