Covenant Loses a Living Legend

To many people, Mountain Affair 2022 was just another of Covenant’s many hectic events. Just another Friday night. Just another big party. But to the rest it was a far more significant event. Mountain Affair 2022 more than likely marked the last time Covenant College would get to see Jude Michael perform live.

Jude Michael, the frontman for the energetic act evebot withdrew from Covenant over the weekend for largely unknown reasons. This marks the end of an era for Covenant College as they lose one of their greatest icons and most enigmatic personalities. Jude Michael was known for occasionally skipping classes and having random underground punk concerts in second lobby of Founders during loud hour of exam week with his main act “Jude Michael and the Worms.” Many students recall seeing Jude Michael wandering campus in his bagging Japanese pants and cherry blossom hoodie and wondering if he was just lost or if he went to the school.

Jude Michael is survived by the entirety of Catacombs hall and his final act as a student of Covenant College: playing Mountain Affair and authoritatively getting on to everyone for not standing up. Nobody really knew what year Jude actually was or what exactly his major was. Jude Michael was loved by most of campus and hated by the rest. He will forever be remembered by the iconic Jude walk that can be effectively replicated by Jean Louise Barnes.

Many friends and family flocked to Jude Michael’s bedside to pay their respects when the news broke that it would be his last night on Saturday, October 29. This was evidence of the impact he had on all those who knew him. Mountain Affair 2022 was an eventful night for all those that know and love Jude Michael. The night culminated when Parks Robinson ’23 took the stage with Jude on the drums, and opened his act with a simple statement that many on campus will loudly echo: “I love Jude Michael.”
