Founders Music Video

One of the most looked forward to events of the Spring Semester is always Founders Music Video, and this year’s did not disappoint! Hosted by Ray Lantrip and Allison Andrews, the night was a fun showcase of the talent of each hall.

The first video shown was Jubilee’s. They did a video of “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” by Taylor Swift. In it, the girls of the hall began to destroy their hall and even spraying pink chalk all over the field (followed by them running away from the grounds workers). The final climax was the girls challenging their destruction in a smash room.

The next hall was Ecclesia. Their song was actually an original song written and performed by Jonny Hill, called “Wrinkled Paisley.” It was themed around the constant pressure of life, especially that of life at college.

Next was Balcony with “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.” In it, “President Halvorson” (a member of the hall wearing a Halvorson mask) leads the students of the hall through life at Covenant, until the Balcony girls found that he is resigning.

Next followed Catacombs hall. The video started with a parody of the AMC movie theater ads with each of the boys acting out the iconic advertisement, and then the music video began. Their video to “Torture Me” by 100 gecs feat Skrillex was a montage of the boys doing random shenanigans.

Next was Jungle’s “Hey Ya.” Shot through fisheye lens, the video was videos of the girls dancing their hearts out - around chattanooga, in Walmart, in the skate park, around the park, and at the beach for spring break.

Brethren’s video to Thriller was next. Starring Chris Bagby as Michael Jackson, the video was similar to the original music video, but with Brethren hall members as the zombies.

Lastly, First Belz created a music video around the song “Waiting for the End” by Linkin Park. They claimed it was “filmed in one continuous shot”  and featured the boys moving their stuff out of the old commons and decorating their new common room. In the end, Philip Kasimir ’26 was left wrapped in Christmas lights in their commons.

The winners were as follows:

Third place: Ecclesia

Second place: Brethren

First place: Catacombs (and also winner of best editing)

Ray Lantrip, ‘23, said of the event, “FMV is a great event because it brings the halls together. Everyone devotes the time and effort required to make a video they’re proud of and that the other halls will enjoy. It impresses me  what we’re all able to accomplish.” Founders Music Video was an awesome night of talent, fun and games, and great community!
