Introduction to the Sports Management Association

Hello everyone! I am pleased to announce the second year of the Sports Management Association (SMA), a club for all those interested in the world of Sports Management (SPM). Don’t worry! You don’t need to be a Sports Management major or minor to be welcomed into the club.

This association desires to see everyone come to socialize at sporting events like Chattanooga FC and the Chattanooga Lookouts. We have awesome alumni panels in the works, along with a senior SPM panel and a Women at Work panel. All of these events will be great ways to meet your peers and the Sport Management community.

The Sports Management Association enjoy a Chattanooga FC game on Sunday, October 1st 2023.

Speaking of meetings … meet the 2023-2024 SMA Leadership team!

First up we have President Madison Blevins. “I love spending time with friends and family, playing/watching sports, and being outdoors. Spending alone time in the world is how I recharge. I want to coach college basketball,” Blevins said. “I am excited for the year with SMA, building community within the club, and offering opportunities for people to get real world experience. My position is the SMA club president, planning events and opportunities for students, sharing experiences, and guiding the club.”

Next we have the Vice President and Treasurer. “My name is Caleb Miller and I am a senior Sports Management major. I am from Dothan, AL, and am engaged to my beautiful fiancé Maegan,” Miller said. “This year I am serving as the Vice President/Treasurer for the SMA. I deal with all the finances and help make decisions alongside Madison regarding the SMA. I am super excited for this year and expect tremendous growth within the SMA while helping those involved discover their path in and around sports. I am looking forward to representing you all this year!”

Another leadership role is the Graphic Design Specialist. “I’m Solomon Crouch and I’m the Graphic Design Specialist for the Sports Management Association! The role I have is for me to generate content for the Sports Management Association social media accounts to help promote events and activities. What I’m hoping for with this role is to help grow the number of people who attend events and people who want to join the association!”

Working alongside as the Social Media Director is Sydney Jones. “I am a current junior on the women's basketball team. I love all things sports, especially football and basketball! This year I am excited to get our Sports Management club kicked off,” Jones said. “It will be a time that we can connect and have a blast. There are going to be opportunities to learn but also to hang out and get to know each other. I hope to see y’all there!”

Lastly, the Senior Women’s Advisor is Leilani Brown. “I am a junior Business major (Sports Management minor) with a passion for sports events, both watching and participating. As I aspire for a future career in sports, you will catch me at Sports Management events working and learning to create a positive experience for the spectators and the crew,” Brown said. “I am excited to meet everyone and to have fun! I look forward to hosting panel events and empowering each other with this unique chance to develop alongside our peers.”

The 2023 kick off event was Sunday, Oct. 1, when SMA watched Chattanooga FC take on the FC Detroit Gold Stars. Keep an eye out for future updates and opportunities, and on behalf of the association, we look forward to seeing you there!
