Senior Spotlight

What impact have your coaches/the other women on the team made on your life outside of basketball?

Over these past 4 years, this team has become like a family. They have encouraged, challenged, and loved me so well! We like to say that it’s a safe but dangerous environment: safe because we are here for each other and will love each other through the highs and lows, and dangerous because we push each other and call each other up. I’m so thankful for all the coaches and teammates who have encouraged and pushed me to be my best both on and off the floor.

3. As a senior, what would you tell your freshman/younger self.

another way of asking what is the best advice you were given/what advice do you wish you had been given?

My freshmen year our Senior, Margo Koby, would always tell us “it is cool to care.” I love this because I think it reflects the “All In” mentality we have in our program. I think sometimes our culture can tell us that it’s better to play things safe, not give your whole self to something in case you fail and look dumb. But I think being a great teammate requires you to be all in, to give everything you have, to pour yourself out for the people around you. So I would tell freshmen that it is cool to care, and that giving all you have for the team is so rewarding.

4. What is your favorite in-game moment/memory?

When Cozy WENT OFF last year and we beat Maryville for the first time in 20 years.

5. Do you have a favorite road trip or bonding moment with the team?

We went to Costa Rica last summer and had the opportunity to serve, run basketball clinics, and play some games! It was such a fun time to experience new things together and watch God work in us as individuals and as a team. There is so much I could say about the trip, but it was overall such a great time!
