Read moreOn Friday, March 15, Covenant College had the privilege of inaugurating our seventh president, Brad Voyles.
Read moreOn Sunday, February 4, 2024, Joel Belz, a former professor and board member at Covenant, passed away at the age of 82. His story is an inspiring one for both Covenant College and the wider Evangelical Christian community. His legacy and efforts to champion the Gospel are significant, so here are some of the elements of his story as we remember him.
Read moreImagine the dreamlike tones of a social media influencer: “GRWM to be paid $0 an hour to go to the worst parts of your city, and get yelled at by strangers for trying to help.”
Read moreYou might have heard of England, a sea-locked union of countries in Europe. A rather wealthy country, which has struck more luck compared to the rest of the world, has fallen into a recession this year. While this may be surprising—even shocking—recessions don’t happen for no reason.
Read moreIn the coming weeks, a group of students will be conducting interviews and gathering information about Covenant’s Title IX procedures.
Unfortunately for many in the student body, Title IX related issues have either been experienced personally or known about through close relationships with a friend or family member. If you have been unfortunate enough to have to go through this process or have thought you may need it, you also know that it is quite difficult to know what to do, what “counts”/“deserves” help from the program, and who you actually want to talk to about the issue.
Regardless of the fact that every student is required to complete Title IX training, the reality (that too many students have faced) is that the Title IX program at Covenant seems to have some shortcomings in a number of areas.
As we attempt to evaluate the issues, the Bagpipe staff wants to answer some key questions. First, what might help students understand Covenant’s specific practices better, so that they are not lost or stuck? Second, as a Christian college, are the legal and procedural policies of Title IX sufficient to provide Biblical care for the vulnerable, and accountability for the transgressors?
With these main questions in mind (and others), we hope to bring clarity and conversation to a topic that is difficult to approach for many students. If you have thoughts, questions, or experiences that you would like to share with the staff, don’t hesitate to reach out!
Spring formal this year is going to look a lot different than in years past. On February 19, the CAB team announced in chapel that the spring formal would take a new form; instead of being held off campus at a place downtown, the event is set to be on March 15, and will be held on campus.
Read moreAs many Covenant students know, we used to share a campus with Covenant Theological Seminary in the early years of this institution. Since both establishments are agencies of the PCA, the two academic institutions have remained closely related. Many graduates of Covenant College move on to Covenant Seminary to continue their robust theological education. But why share all this history with you? In the last month, I found out about a murder case at our older sister institution, Covenant Theological Seminary.
Read moreWhen asked about her goals in this new position, she says that “there is a lot I have to learn, and there is a great team in place which I want to learn from. I have ideas for the role, but I am also ready to support the good things which are already happening.”

The spring semester started off with a bang and has been a constant stream of disruptions and disasters since the first Sunday of the semester. Since that first Sunday, there have been two Carter fire alarms, a wind storm, an ice storm and a busted sprinkler in the Mac laundry room.
Read moreThe Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the second largest country in Africa, has been in a state of war since 1996. Over the last 21 years, it is estimated that somewhere around six million lives have been taken. This harsh truth is indicative of great injustice.
Read moreThis story does not end with a technophilic moral. The lovely glowing radium on the shiny new watches did not represent the American dream, nor did it herald a new era of radioactive luxury. Instead, rich men grew richer, and the women making the watches grew sick and felt their bones soften as their gums bled and their teeth fell out. Radium was not a wonder molecule. It was poison, it was dangerous, and it was painted on the jewelry and skin and teeth of the unwitting before they even knew what it was.
Read moreOn Thursday, November 30, 2023, a longstanding tradition of Covenant College took place in the form of the Senior Social. Put on by Senior Class President Lucy Sicks and hosted at the Historic Church on Main Street, many members of the graduating class of 2024 gathered together to celebrate those who would be graduating in December. The night was a formal gathering where students gathered to play bingo, to recognize those graduating this December, and to hear a word of encouragement from President Brad Voyles.
Read moreThis year at Covenant College, we were privileged with another arrangement of cinematic performances from our friends in the Maclellan-Rhymer dormitory building. Every hall in the building created a short film over the course of this semester and presented it for the whole college on Saturday, November 11 in the chapel at 7:30 p.m. Every hall was also tasked with creating a movie poster for their hall’s movie.
