Following a short respite from classes with winter-break, the Covenant Scots sports teams are back to make some noise around the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) in both winter and spring sports.
Mens and womens basketball both began back in the fall semester. Since then the Mens team has compiled a record of 7-12 (as of the writing of this article). Some of these wins include a two game sweep of Sewanee and blow out wins over Piedmont, Welch College and Warren Wilson.
The womens basketball team has compiled a record of 5-13 since their opener back in November. Some of these wins include a close home win against Piedmont and a sweep of Wesleyan College in conference play.
Both teams will play their final home game against LaGrange on Saturday, February 14. The top six teams in the conference will play for the CCS championship and an appearance in the Division III tournament beginning Tuesday, February 24 with the final games taking place Saturday, February 28.
Mens golf competed in several tournaments during the fall semester with some notable results being their first place finish at the Bob Jones Bruins Classic and third place finish at the Berry Chick-Fil-A Invitational. Mens golf will return to competition at the Port City Classic in Savannah, Georgia, March 2-3.
Mens and womens tennis will begin their season at home versus Johnson University on Saturday, February 7. The Scots return 2025 CCS Player of the Year and CCS First Team player Ben Onufrock ’26, and CCS First Team player Caleb Domkowski ’27. The Lady Scots are not returning any CCS all-conference players; however, they will have a solid core of experienced players with three juniors and two sophomores on roster.
Covenant baseball will begin their season versus Greenville University on Friday, February 13, with a double header the following day. The Scots will return CCS Second Team pitcher Ethan Goebert ’27.
Covenant Softball will officially begin their season at the Mississippi University for Women Invitational on February 13 and 14. The Lady Scots will not be returning any all-conference players but look to have a complete roster heading into the 2026 season.
Mens and Womens track and field kicked off their indoor season Friday, January 9 at the UAB Blazer Invite. The indoor season will wrap up February 13-14 at Centre University. The outdoor season will begin at the Myrtle Beach Spring Break Classic March 13-14. The Lady Scots will look to improve on their second place finish at last year’s CCS championship meet as they return three all-conference runners, Evangelia Berry’ 27, Emerson Tillery ’27 and Kenzi Stapleton ’28. The mens team enters 2026 looking solid with two returning CCS all-conference performers including 2025’s 5k champion Ethan Saiki ’27. Both teams appear as if other top performers could emerge from their ranks.
