What it means to be a Scot: Seniors in Sports Series - Saying Goodbye: Scots Womens Soccer

Saying Goodbye: Scots Womens Soccer

Being a part of Scots Athletics has had such a positive impact on my life the last four years. Not only have I been able to play the sport that I love, it’s also given me the chance to be a part of an amazing community that is constantly pursuing Christ.

Coach Duble and Coach Rachel have played a large role in fostering a team where we can compete competitively but also be challenged and grow in our faith. I know that if I ever need anything, even 15 years down the line, they would be there for me.

Obviously, one of the best moments was winning the conference tournament my sophomore year. However, most of my favorite moments have been the ones that are easy to take for granted: the bus ride conversations, team dinners, locker room jam sessions and the many inside jokes.

My teammates have made my time on the team special. They’ve always been the first ones to encourage me when I’m down, and challenge me as a player, as well as a follower of Christ. They’ve helped to set a standard of who I want to be as a Christain and an athlete.

I will greatly miss playing soccer, along with the community that I’ve found. This team has been my family over the last several years and I could not be more thankful for the impact that they’ve had on my life. The athletic department has also played a large role, as they have set the teams up for success competitively, academically and, most importantly, spiritually.

I truly love this program and what it stands for. There are not enough words to fully express what being a part of the womens soccer team and Scots Athletics has meant to me.
