What it means to be a Scot: Seniors in Sports Series - Saying Goodbye: Scots Tennis

Saying Goodbye: Scots Tennis

When I initially thought about what participating in college sports would entail, I struggled to see the full picture. When I first looked at schools to go to, Covenant had never crossed my mind until I was reached out to by Coach John Hirte.

When I first arrived on campus, the environment felt so welcoming, and I knew I had made the right choice on where to spend my college years. Opting for Covenant was a decision that profoundly changed my perspective on collegiate athletics and transformed me as an individual for the better.

Being a Scots athlete encompasses more than just excelling in your sport; it focuses on the bonds forged within the team, the role you play in exemplifying Christian values as an athlete, and the personal growth experienced along the journey. Among the cherished moments from my time at Covenant are winning the CCS Tournament title for the first time since its creation and the historic announcement of our team making it to the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history.

Additionally, the nail-biting matches where victory hung in the balance, yet we emerged triumphant, are memories that will forever remain etched in my mind. Nevertheless, what I will miss the most is the way that the team didn’t just feel like a team, but a family.

Over the course of four years, I've been blessed to be a part of an extraordinary group. They have turned into lifelong friends and individuals who continually inspire me to strive for excellence. Departing from this team will undoubtedly be one of the most challenging aspects of my journey, but I am immensely grateful for the brotherhood and support offered by my teammates and coaches throughout my collegiate career.

Becoming a Scots Athlete has undeniably been one of the greatest decisions I've ever made.
